ASC, explained for people who sell cars.
You do not need to know ASC to use EveryPing. Here is the short version, in case a vendor brings it up.
What it is
The Automotive Standards Council publishes a shared list of names for what a shopper does on a dealer website. A phone tap is one name. Opening a trade tool is another. When every vendor on your site uses the same names, your reports can add them up.
Why it matters to the store
Your site is built by several companies: the website provider, the chat tool, the trade tool, call tracking. Without a shared list, each one reports in its own words, or into its own account, and your reports undercount the shoppers who tried to reach you.
Where your account is named
A site that follows ASC carries a small block of data on each page, called the ASC data layer. It names the store and the Google Analytics account that should receive these events. We use that account to decide whether a signal reached you or went somewhere else.
The names you will see most
- asc_click_to_call · a phone number was tapped
- asc_cta_interaction · a button like Contact Us was clicked
- asc_retail_process · a trade or payment tool ran
- asc_form_submission · a form was sent
- asc_comm_submission · a chat or text was sent
- asc_itemlist_pageview · a vehicle list page opened
